Current Opportunity

We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in the Togo GGGI Country Office to provide administrative, financial and logistical support in close coordination with the Directorate of Environment, Ministry of Environment to enable effective delivery of the readiness support grant. 

Background of the Togo GCF Project Building on and complementing existing on-going supports, GGGI is proving support to the Ministry of Environment/NDA, through the Readiness Program that aims to enhance the capacity of national institutions to efficiently engage with GCF - the world’s largest dedicated fund helping developing countries reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and improve their ability to respond to climate change. Thus, this grant was requested to support the identification and nomination of a potential national direct access entity that will enable Togo to tap directly into GCF funding to implement the country’s climate actions; and working with the entity, develop a concept note for needed climate change project for submission to GCF. This grant will also support in identifying climate finance sources available for Togo as well as gaps to rationalize tapping into GCF funding, through the development of the climate finance strategy; and in improving the National Employers Council of Togo’s (CNP-TOGO) knowledge on climate change such as on employment opportunities, climate financing, green transport, green building standards and in developing the Council’s green policy to engage more private sector on sustainability and environmental management initiatives.

 


Objectives/Purpose of the Assignment

 

GGGI is hiring an Intern to support the implementation of readiness program in Togo. The Intern is a full-time national talented individual with strong capacity/knowledge in administrative, financial and logistics who will be assisting the Country Representative (CR) and the Program Officer (PO) for the implementation of the program and timely delivery of the GGGI Readiness Program in Togo, in close cooperation with the NDA and key stakeholders. She/he will report directly to the Program Officer and will receive guidance/support from GGGI technical experts at headquarters, including the GGGI GCF Liaison Unit.  The Intern will support in the Program’s financial and administrative operations in accordance with GGGI’s highest quality standards.

 

Assignments

 

The Intern will provide administrative, financial, and logistical support in close coordination with the Directorate of Environment, Ministry of Environment to enable effective delivery of the readiness support grant. The main tasks will be as follow:

 

  • Supports the program activities with preparation for, organizing of, or processing of, meetings or workshops.
  • support in the engagement with nominated DAE and collect relevant policy documents by providing administrative support in organizing the mission and meetings with nominated DAE, and coordinating and following-up the collection of policy documents.
  • Provides general support to the program activities where necessary.
  • Updates the Country Team, and/or Program Unit on project status and up to date data repository and document archives, asset inventory, and stakeholder contacts.
  • Supports all procurement and recruitment related activities.
  • Support in the engagement with the potential DAEs e.g., decision-makers in private companies and Government agencies through organizing consultation meetings and awareness raising workshop and providing administrative support in organizing the workshops, send invitation letters, coordinate the collection and distribution of agenda materials, follow-up and confirm participation of stakeholders, draft minutes of the meeting and workshop, draft workshop report.
  • support the development of National Employers Council of Togo's green policy by coordinating with and gathering documents from National Employers Council of Togo, organizing meetings with the Council's Executive Board and other local stakeholders/members, collecting feedback, facilitate translation of documents.
  • Explains logistics procedures and requirements for external partners who participate in GGGI workshops and meetings.
  • Assists in the preparation of briefing materials, presentations and reports.           
  • Generates and maintains an up-to-date program data repository of the country program by compiling, cleaning, sorting out and calibrating all program related data including monitoring of the work plan and budget.
  • Compiles and files all program related documents for document archives (inventory, library) both electronically (on SharePoint) and as hard copies
  • Supports program activities with preparation for, or processing of, meetings or workshops.
  • Supports in the preparation of internal coordination meetings including note taking.
  • Provides logistics arrangements with respect to workshops and meetings.
  • Provides general support to the program activities where necessary including translation services to support effective project implementation.

 

Important information

  • Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation. 
  • Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD$500 per month. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions.  
  • Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.  
  • Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.  
  • Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
  • Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.  
  • Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.  
  • Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
  • Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
  • Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
