Title of position: Manager Financial Services

Location of the job: Finance

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job:
• Lead and have oversight of the sub-functions within Financial Services, namely General Ledger

and Reporting, Treasury and Cash Management, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Accounts Re-
ceivable and Petty Cash Administration.

• Communicate financial plans, budgets, and report on financial performance to required stake-
holders.

• Partner with MTN Group to ensure effective and efficient operations via Oracle and non-pro-
cess workflows as applicable.

Strategy development & Implementation :
- Assist in the definition of the sub-divisional strategy in line with overarching divisional goals with
emphasis on client experience (internal & external)
- Ensure effective implementation of the sub-divisional strategy by means of providing direction,
structure, business plans and support.
• Staff Leadership & Management :
- Source, induct, and manage talent in accordance with legislatives guidelines

- Ensure open communication channels with staff and implement change management interven-
tions where necessary

- Provide definition of roles, responsibilities, individuals goals and performance objectives for the
team
- Set KPIs and provide regular performance feedback through a well- defined and implemented
performance review program
- Develop and implement a training plan to build and develop skills within the team
- Teal performance management in accordance with HR policy and legislation where necessary
- Actively participate in leadership team and develop skills of own team
- Promote a “MTN Centric” and partnership approach to develop strong relationships with other
working groups and ensure adherence to Group governance.
• Governance :
- Facilitating sharing of best practices and lessons across the company

- Supporting the staff in its duties by ensuring that it has adequate resources to perform its duties
and providing it with access to information required.
• Operational Delivery :

Financial Services:
- Ensure establishment of robust financial accounting systems to provide timely, accurate and
consistent inputs for management reporting
- Ensure preparation and maintenance of financial and accounting policies & procedures for the
OpCo
- Supervise the maintenance of the books of accounts as per the standard accounting practices

- Oversee OpCo site support functions. Ensure operational work related to fund mobilisation, ac-
counting, cash handling & disbursements, bookkeeping

- and timely payment to vendors are as per defined service levels
- Work closely with the site support team to reconcile the bills raised by the contractors, vendors,
suppliers and ensure timely payments as per the contractual conditions
- Ensure minimal lead times for rendering support to the internal customers and ensure minimal
process/operational breakdowns
- Responsible for intercompany relations and transactions relating to financial matters like fund
transfer, etc.

Treasury & Cash Management:
- Direct and effective cash flow management in alignment with MTN guidelines, suggest corrective
actions in case of process deviations and escalate issues in a timely manner,
- Ensure management of cash and bank funds receipts and its approval
- Responsible for approving and sanctioning the bank related vouchers, reconciliation statements
etc, as applicable
- Responsible for providing support to the treasury activities of the organisation to ensure gain of
returns on the corporate level investments

Taxation
- Oversee tax function and ensure adherence to all related compliance requirements per local laws
- Drive and guide the tax planning of direct and indirect taxation that will assist in commercial
decision-making
- Ensure compliance with respect to statutory requirements as applicable
- Period End activities (covering all period end activities across all accounts and business units)

- Manage month-end closure and ensure timely reporting by providing guidance to interdepart-
mental managers with necessary

- Streamline financial reports to ensure that they are aligned to the accounting system

- Prepare financial statements in line with the reporting requirements
- Comply with the DoA for access to the approved financial statements prior to publishing
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly, etc. commentaries, as well as commentaries to the ARC and
Board.

Statutory and external audits:
- Manage the statutory and external audits,
- Analyse and investigate audit differences in line with audit instructions and SLAs defined
- Respond to audit queries based on necessary approvals obtained from OpCo CFO and defined
DoA
- Prepare a list of unadjusted and adjusted differences
- Recommend changes in the existing policies and procedures based on the materiality pf audit
findings

Define Business Plan:
- Define templates, drivers, targets as per MTN policy on performance management

- Evaluate environmental variables and markets conditions to develop long term strategies to sup-
port current and future customer needs

- Manage the preparation of budgets, forecasts and long-term plans for the entity, in coordination
with the entity decision support and management teams
- Review the annual operational budget and projection of expenses
- Ensure direction and proper understanding of all cost centers, departments in developing budget
plans
- Develop guidelines for developing the budget for the entity
- Analyse and prepare budget estimate for the organization, obtain appropriate approval from the
Board as applicable
- Ensure finalisation of budgets for various departments and business units with support from the
respective heads.

Manage and improve business performance:
- Ensure adherence to enterprise performance calendar and timely completion of all phases of the
appraisal cycle for the department
- Manage the reporting of results on a monthly basis with all the identified stakeholders, providing
appropriate commentary and explanation as required
- Present financial performance reports to Executive Committee and Senior Management
- Review results in line with the business plan along with corresponding Board commentary

ing

Financial Planning, Budgeting and Reporting:
- Review and provide inputs for financial planning, budgeting process and control process
- Validate if financial planning and budgeting of the entity is in line with strategic plans, initiatives,
and policies of the entity and the Group

- Review financial reports for accuracy and validate adherence to MTN and regulatory require-
ment

- Communicate and ensure adherence to all standards, statutory policies, procedures, and guide-
lines pertaining to Finance and Tax, conduct meetings for review and timely action.

Minimum Requirements: Minimum necessary, and not the ideal / preferred should be included.
Education
− Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
− Fluent in French and English
− Proof of continuing education through courses, personal development, and seminars
− Any FinTech business related training/certification

• Experience
− Minimum of five (05) years in similar position in relevant industries
− Demonstrated commitment to getting the job done
− Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous

− Fintech business awareness
− Good communication skills – both written and verbal
− A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data

General working conditions:
