THE OPPORTUNITY
The Business Development Advisor (BDA) supports the Business Development Manager in driving Plan International Nigeria’s resource mobilisation and proposal development efforts.
The role focuses on supporting the full proposal development cycle aligned with the country programme strategy, including:
Grant proposal development (narrative and budget)
Concept notes and donor presentations
Project and programme design
Consortium and bid team coordination
Proposal review and quality assurance
Capacity building of programme teams and local partners on proposal development
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the development of high-quality grant proposals, budgets, presentations and concept notes
Contribute to project design, logframes and results frameworks
Support and facilitate proposal development workshops
Coordinate and validate inputs from consortia members and bid teams
Review proposals to ensure compliance with donor requirements and quality standards
Support capacity strengthening and training of staff and partners on proposal development
Contribute to strategic resource mobilisation initiatives
ABOUT YOU
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Medicine, Project Management, Business Studies, Public Health or Social Sciences
A Master’s degree or certifications such as PMP / PMD is an added advantage
Experience
3–5 years’ experience in a similar role within an INGO, development or humanitarian sector
Strong experience in donor-funded programme design
Proven ability to design and interpret logframes and results frameworks
Technical & Professional Skills
Strong understanding of humanitarian and development programming
Solid knowledge of Humanitarian Principles and Standards, including:
CPiE Minimum Standards
Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS)
SPHERE Standards
Excellent problem-solving, strategic planning and coordination skills
Strong project management capabilities
Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across public and NGO sectors
Communication & IT Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Strong facilitation and technical writing skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet tight deadlines
